Once you step through the red door, you know you have entered a special corner of the world. You will be immediately impressed with the eclectic selection of florals, signs, dishes, handbags, bath products, and other gifts and décor pieces for the home and office. Owner, Kara Waugh, is a Fairfield native who purchased the shop in 2018. After living in Des Moines for 18 years, Waugh is happy to be “back home”. “My family returned here so my son could have the same small town childhood experience my husband and I had. And I enjoy being part of a small community where I can be active and involved.”

Some of Waugh’s favorite things about Fairfield? “I love the diversity of our community – the variety of businesses and restaurants we have is second to none. It’s not an ordinary small town by any means and that is priceless.”

Adela’s has a saying; “where every gift is wrapped with love” and that love is evident in the way Kara and her staff treat their customers with friendly greetings, personal shopping, and attention to their customer’s needs. To say that Adela’s thinks of their customers as family is not a shallow declaration. “I love seeing so many familiar faces in the store. I enjoy sharing stories and memories with our customers. Knowing our customers truly love the store and care about us is very touching.”
